Paper Girls Gets Canceled at Prime Video After One Season

The Paper Girls era at Prime Video is coming to an end, but it doesn’t always mean the show is done. Following the release of the first season in July, according to Deadline, Amazon Studios has cancelled the show after just one season on the streaming service. Fans of the programme still have some hope, though, as it is said that Legendary TV may shop the show around in an effort to find it a new home.

Without a doubt, Amazon did not cancel the show because it received bad reviews. The programme received a 90% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which was virtually identical to the 88% audience rating. The series’ low viewership was working against them because it hardly registered in Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings. According to the Deadline story, Paper Girls may have been eclipsed by The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power since that show has received much of Amazon’s recent marketing attention.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

The sci-fi television series Paper Girls was created by Stephany Folsom and is based on the same-named sci-fi comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang. The actors in the show include Camryn Jones, Riley Lai Nelet, Sofia Rosinsky, Fina Strazza, Adina Porter, Ali Wong, Nate Corddry, and Sekai Abeni. Vaughan, Chiang, Folsom, Christopher C. Rogers, Christopher Cantwell, Steven Prinz, and Plan B are the executive producers.

Paper Girls Was Acclaimed by Viewers and Critics

When the programme was announced for 2020, Folsom, Cantwell, and Rogers remarked jointly, “As tremendous fans of what Brian and Cliff created in Paper Girls, we couldn’t be more delighted about the opportunity to bring this wonderful story to life.” Our true desire is to create Paper Girls unlike anything else on TV right now, in addition to doing honour to the original material since it has so much heart and so many distinctive colours and dimensions.

It’s possible that the programme may wind up receiving a second shot at a streaming service or network that’s thrilled with its reviews and believes a second season would be successful. The first season of Paper Girls is available on Prime Video, and a trailer and plot summary are provided below.
