South Africa and India will play a three-match ODI series beginning on October 6. India’s key players may skip this series in anticipation of the T20 World Cup. Furthermore, Shikhar Dhawan may once more take charge of the ODI team. In addition to this, the BCCI is preparing to send Indian players to Australia in the near future for World Cup training.
Team India will compete against South Africa in three T20 matches prior to the ODI matches. The first game in the T20 series will be played on September 28 and the final game will be on October 4. The English publication Indian Express reported that the BCCI intended to fly the players chosen for the T20 World Cup to Australia on October 5.
The BCCI wants players to have every chance to practise in Australia. Rahul Dravid, the team’s coach, has also been contacted by the BCCI in this respect. The players will get an additional week of practise if they arrive in Australia on October 5 itself. On October 23, Team India will play its opening World Cup match against Pakistan. Team India must also compete in two exhibition games.
These players will have an opportunity
Shikhar Dhawan will unquestionably captain Team India for the ODI series. Shikhar Dhawan was appointed team captain for the West Indies series as well. Players who didn’t make the T20 World Cup roster may be given an opportunity in this series. Shubman Gill is only ever seen playing the opener.
Additionally, in the ODI series against South Africa, players like Sanju Samsam, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan, Avesh Khan, and Mohammad Siraj may also be given an opportunity. The BCCI has already stated, however, that the squad would fly to Australia with the players that were held in reserve for the World Cup.
